Abstract
This year's MBS survey is a snapshot.It is not an attempt to pick "winners" or "losers", in terms of policies or institutions. It is not even designed to identify the challenges that must be overcome if microfinance is to thrive. What if offers is a non-judgemental tour d'horizon of the main concerns that a range of players in the microfinance industry have about their businesses in the middle of 2014. Those players include microfinance providers, donors, regulators and observers; what they have to say may make uncomfortable reading, but it cannot be ignored.
